Here we are sharing the most haunted places in India for those of you who are bored with the monotony of daily life and would like to explore the unexplored. Read through our list of most haunted places in India, but at your own risk!

Shimla is home to many creepy stories. One story is of the infamous Tunnel no. 33, where the friendly spirit of Colonel Barog lurks around the tunnel all through the night. Colonel Barog was an engineer in Indian railways during the British Raj. His ghost chats with people passing through the tunnel and But he is said to be a friendly ghost.

  1.  Brij Raj Bhavan Palace in Kota, Rajasthan

This is labelled as a top 10 haunted house in India but a little bit less horrible. Major Burton’s ghost walks in the Brij Raj Bhavan palace at night, Major Burton’ was a Britisher and was killed in the 1857 mutiny by sepoys along with his two sons. People have reported that an elderly man with white hair and walking stick in his hand wanders around the place. Though the ghost doesn't harms anybody, but always keeps a check on guards, if he finds any guards sleeping during their duty in the palace then Major Burton slaps them.

  1.  Savoy Hotel, Mussoorie

The Savoy hotel in Mussoorie is assumed to be home to the poltergeist of Lady Garnet who was poisoned in the hotel during the British times. The myth is that her ghost is in search of the one who poisoned her. The mysterious deaths at Hotel Savoy of Mussorie and the stories related considered it in top 10 haunted places in India. The story is also mentioned in Agatha Christie’s ‘The Mysterious Affair at Styles’ and also in the famous book by Ruskin Bond ‘In a Crystal Ball- A Mussoorie mystery.’

The n number of movies been shot at Ramoji Film City, Hyderabad, this place is believed to be a haunted place in India. It is constructed on war grounds of the Nizam sultans and the place is eerie by notorious spirit of dead soldiers. There are incidents of mysterious activities like people disappearing and lights going off knocks from the bathroom, doors locked from outside by themselves.

Although not so famous, the GP Block in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh is considered as one of the top haunted places in India. People have spotted ghosts of girls wearing red and some people have also seen ghosts of men who used to be drinking partners when they were alive.

Another most haunted place in India, locals try their best to avoid visiting the Dow Hills area on account of its frightening past. The hills remain isolated because there have been many deaths in Dow Hills West Bengal. Few woodcutters claimed  to have seen a headless young boy strolling and afterward vanishing into the trees.

Lonavla, a charming hill station close to Mumbai it is a well-known picnic spot and lots of travellers plan a night out at resorts and lodges in Lonavla. Though, people keep away from staying at Raj Kiran hotel due to its haunted ground floor. Guests have experienced strange knocks on the doors, bedsheets being pulled and other weird incidences.
